3D printing: can it make surgery more accessible?
نویسندگان
چکیده
The advancement of 3-Dimensional (3D) printing technology has made the design and production items increasingly ubiquitous amongst public. This is being used widely in various medical fields. With its increasing cost efficiency accessibility, it author's perspective that 3D can improve accessibility to surgical procedures low- medium-income countries (LMIC) by providing proceduralists with basic equipment required perform routine operations.

متن کامل3D printing to simulate laparoscopic choledochal surgery.
AIMS OF THE STUDY Laparoscopic simulation has transformed skills acquisition for many procedures. However, realistic nonbiological simulators for complex reconstructive surgery are rare. Life-like tactile feedback is particularly difficult to reproduce. Technological innovations may contribute novel solutions to these shortages. We describe a hybrid model, harnessing 3D technology to simulate l...
متن کاملCan We Make Information Extraction More Adaptive?
It seems widely agreed that IE (Information Extraction) is now a tested language technology that has reached precision+recall values that put it in about the same position as Information Retrieval and Machine Translation , both of which are widely used commercially. There is also a clear range of practical applications that would be eased by the sort of template-style data that IE provides. The...
متن کاملMore Possessions Can Make Consumers Less Happy
This research challenges a central tenet of consumerism—the widespread belief that owning more (e.g., more clothes, another TV, or another car) is more satisfying than owning less. We posit and show in the lab and the field that even though consumers prefer to own more goods, ironically, they can be more satisfied owning less. This occurs with contrasting possessions— goods that fulfill similar...
